The whole world kin? That sounds pretty nice. Actually, it sounds like yoga.
Yoga brings things together. It cultivates a relationship between the body, mind, and spirit. It unites the mind with the moment. It connects human beings to each other; and, just as importantly, it connects human beings to the planet.
Drishti Fest is excited to announce that we have joined the commonwealth’s campaign to promote environmentally-friendly practices in Virginia’s tourism industry and we are officially a Certified Virginia Green Event! We will be recycling, minimizing waste production, minimizing use of disposable materials, and limiting our printed materials through our use of electronic and web based advertising and registration. What we do print will be printed with soy-based ink on recycled paper. And, it doesn’t stop there. We will be revealing more ways in which Drishti Fest is environmentally friendly as we get closer to the event.
In the meantime, brush up on some environmental facts regarding tourism...
Did you know that a typical 100-room hotel uses 5.6 million gallons of water and 120 tons of trash a year and produces 3.6 million pounds of CO2 emissions through energy usage?”
Virginia Green has calculated that 30% reductions in water and energy are easily achievable through simple P2 techniques, and a good hotel recycling program can divert more than 50% of its solid wastes. Through the Virginia Green Program, the 100 Virginia Green Lodging facilities should achieve annually:
15 million gallons of reduced water consumption
100 million pounds of reduced CO2 emissions
3500 tons of reduced solid waste generation
Check out the Virginia Green Website for more details on how to stay environmentally friendly when traveling to the beautiful state of Virginia.
